In a day full of enthusiasm and environmental commitment, 166 volunteers of all ages gathered at Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park to participate in an ambitious reforestation campaign sponsored by Ecuasanitas.
Customers, sales force and their families joined together with a common goal: to plant 1045 native trees and bushes to revitalize this green lung of Quito.
The scene was moving: children, youth and adults working side by side, planting species such as capulí, linden, pumamaqui, myrtle, pusupato, shrubs like chilcas, among others.
It was particularly inspiring to see the little ones planting their own saplings, demonstrating that caring for the environment has no age.
The energy of the group was contagious, with all participants showing overflowing enthusiasm to contribute to this noble cause.
This day is part of a decade-long ongoing effort where the Foundation has planted 14,458 native trees and shrubs, transforming areas of grassland into developing native forests.
Biodiversity is returning, as evidenced by the discovery of a burrow of small mice at the start of the day, an encouraging sign that the efforts are paying off.
Despite the fatigue, the day ended around 12:30 with a general feeling of accomplishment.
As if nature wanted to thank the effort, a timely rain started right at the end of the planting.
To all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to this cause, a big thank you. Each tree planted is one more step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Quito.
