We gathered in the Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park with one goal: to plant 400 native trees in the area affected by the recent fires.
This effort was made possible thanks to a group of students and their families who are promoting the project “A memorable tree”: not only did they plant, but they also made a great effort to raise the necessary funds to make this planting a reality.
The area where we planted was previously covered by eucalyptus that burned and partly turned to ashes. The scene was desolate: the fire destroyed all the bushes and part of the trees.
We will work to restore the affected areas, thus contributing to the fight against climate change and for a native forest to prevail, as eucalyptus, which, although it has many benefits, is an exotic species that does not allow the development of our biodiversity.
The native species included were capulíes, guabas, guarangos, wax laurel, myrtle, pumamaquis and podocarpus, among others.
We counted 180 participants, a committed group, and the good energy of each of the volunteers was fundamental to the success of this day.
With their hands full of earth and their willing hearts, they demonstrated that togetherness and collective effort can make a difference in the recovery of the environment.
Reforestation not only helps restore damaged ecosystems, but also plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change.
Trees are essential for absorbing carbon dioxide (CO₂) and releasing oxygen, which helps improve air quality and combat the effects of global warming.
At a time when action to curb climate change is needed more than ever, initiatives like this highlight the importance of involving the community in protecting the planet.
The event culminated with a special thank you to all participants, especially the parents, whose support has been instrumental in bringing this effort to fruition.
Their commitment not only provides a valuable lesson in environmental responsibility, but also inspires future generations to care for and protect their environment.
This reforestation day is a reminder that every action counts in the fight for a more sustainable world.
With every tree planted, one more step is taken towards a greener and healthier future.
