A Green Army Transforms the Urban Landscape

In a day filled with enthusiasm and environmental commitment, 150 volunteers of all ages gathered at Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park.

Entire families, employees, and company representatives came together with a shared goal: to plant 250 native trees and shrubs.

The mission was clear: breathe life into areas of the park that were once just grasslands, transforming them into “islands” of native forest. With nature’s help and our care, these areas will become thriving habitats that restore biodiversity.

Children, teens, and adults worked side by side, planting native species like llinllín, arrayán, pusupato, podocarpus, capulí, aliso, and cholán, among others.

It was especially inspiring to see the youngest participants planting their own little trees, proving that caring for the environment has no age limit.

Planting the Future: New Generations, New Hope

The day kicked off with motivational words from the Foundation and Andes Petroleum, emphasizing the importance of protecting our planet and honoring the motto: “ONE MORE TREE MAKES A DIFFERENCE!”

The event began with a human chain to transport the plants to the designated planting area. This act of teamwork perfectly symbolized the collaborative spirit of the day.

Following guidance from the Foundation’s technical team, volunteers carefully planted each tree with dedication and care.

A Partnership That Grows Stronger Over the Years

This isn’t the first time Andes Petroleum has partnered with the Foundation on reforestation initiatives.

For several consecutive years, the company has demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation, setting an example for other corporations to follow.

The day wrapped up with a well-deserved snack, a reward for the hard work accomplished. As volunteers shared stories and experiences from the day, the sense of satisfaction was palpable—everyone knew they had contributed to a greener future for Quito.

To all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to this cause, we extend our deepest gratitude.

Every tree planted is another step toward a greener, more sustainable future for our city and for generations to come
