When the Earth Whispers and Volunteers Listen
It was a gray day but full of hope. Cotopaxi National Park, a silent witness, once again summoned us for a greater purpose.
The foundation, together with Runawana and with the support of BUPA, organized a reforestation day that promised to be special.
Seeds of Change: More than a Simple Planting
Eighty volunteers of all ages arrived with the same illusion: to give life back to the páramo. Children, youth and adults converged in a common goal.
Although the start was delayed, the group's energy was unwavering. The goal was clear: to plant 1,000 trees, shrubs and native plants.
The selected species - achupalla, alder, polylepis, among others - were not simple plants, they would become silent guardians of a unique ecosystem.
The moorlands, that forgotten treasure, are much more than landscape: they are water reservoirs, climate regulators and sanctuaries of biodiversity.
More than a Journey, a Commitment
Although the majestic Cotopaxi remained hidden, its presence was undeniable. The volunteers worked with dedication, aware that each tree planted was a message of hope for future generations.
At the end of the day, the satisfaction was palpable. We had accomplished our goal, yes, but we had achieved something more: raising awareness about the importance of preserving our ecosystems.
The new generations understood that caring for nature is not an option, it is a necessity.
