The day began with the goal of planting 1,400 trees, given that our previous largest planting was 1,200 in December 2023, it was a great challenge, and although we faced setbacks, the commitment and dedication of everyone made it possible to achieve the goal.
We gathered more than 200 volunteers, PLUSPETROL collaborators, students from Letort College, the Central University and the National Polytechnic, members of the local community of La Comuna and the Foundation's team.
We formed a human chain to lower about 1,000 trees (6 to 8k each) from an elevated point to the area designated for planting in a creek, it was a titanic task, we ended up really exhausted and it is a good time to thank the enormous physical effort made by each of the participants.
On September 11, a few days after planting, we did an additional watering to ensure that the trees had the best conditions to grow, this extra watering was crucial considering the adverse weather conditions Quito is facing, especially in a context marked by drought and forest fires that threaten biodiversity.
Reforestation not only contributes to improving air quality and combating climate change, but also plays a vital role in the recovery of ecosystems affected by the recent fires.
The species planted, such as alder, myrtle, hawthorn, cholan, guarango and others, were selected to guarantee their adaptation and survival.

Each tree planted is a step towards a sustainable future. Reforestation is a collective action that involves us all.
