From the office to planting in the p\u00e1ramo<\/span><\/font><\/div>

The day started early in Tababela, where 30 AEROSAN volunteers put aside airport logistics to connect with something essential: land.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

AEROSAN, known for moving the world through cargo and airport services, demonstrated that its commitment to sustainability is not just words, but action.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The destination was the buffer zone of the Antisana National Park. There we were welcomed by Guido, our director, who with simple words reminded us of the reason for our presence.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

In this place, each plant fulfills a different function and contributes to the p\u00e1ramo acting like a sponge, absorbing water that it then slowly releases, thus guaranteeing the water we drink in Quito.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

After learning the correct technique to ensure the survival of each plant, the team shouted: \"Let's get to work!<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Rain, laughter, and 500 promises of life<\/span><\/font><\/div>

The objective was to plant 500 native trees and shrubs, including polylepis, chilca de p\u00e1ramo, romerillo de p\u00e1ramo, podocarpus and alisos for the borders. The atmosphere was filled with good vibes; amidst laughter and chatter, co-workers became guardians of the water.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The weather, capricious as a good p\u00e1ramo, gave us sun at the beginning, but then blessed us with rain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

We thank Cristhy for her work in the organization, as the team came prepared: the water ponchos appeared and everyone continued working with the same enthusiasm.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

It motivates us to see the volunteers working in the drizzle, with their hands full of soil and smiles on their faces; it shows that together we can make a difference.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Every tree planted contributes to preserving biodiversity and, by sequestering carbon, mitigates climate change. In addition, in the p\u00e1ramos we protect the water cycle for future generations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

At the end of the planting, with a tired body but a full heart, we shared a snack to regain strength.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The adventure continued in the Antisana National Park with the activity we called \u201cEncounter with nature\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

It was exciting to see the surprised faces when we met white-tailed deer. And, as a finishing touch, we were able to see condors and the Antisana snow-capped mountain, which reminded us of the majesty of what we are protecting.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Everyone returned home motivated and aware that taking care of the p\u00e1ramo is taking care of ourselves.<\/span><\/span><\/p>
