It all began with a concern shared by mothers and students of the 2027 generation of Colegio Menor: how can we make a concrete contribution to caring for the environment? The answer came in the form of a commitment: they contacted the foundation with the firm intention of planting native trees as a living legacy, an act of love for nature and a real contribution to mitigating climate change.
This is how 1 Memorable Tree was born, a group that has shown perseverance and resilience from day one.
Their first outing took them to Los Mortiños, at the northern entrance to Cotopaxi National Park, where the cold wind of the moorland welcomed their willing hands.
Then it was the turn of Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park, where they once again planted hope, tree by tree.
This year, they decided to go further: planting in Tambo Cóndor, that Andean corner on the way to the Antisana volcano where the water is crystal clear and the frailejones guard the ecosystem.
On Saturday, October 25, Colegio Menor celebrated Family Day, and 1 Memorable Tree transformed that gathering into an opportunity to sow awareness.
The foundation was invited to accompany the fundraising for the reforestation day in Tambo Cóndor.
The students came prepared. They had handmade key chains and planted aromatic plants in pots made from recycled plastic bottles.
The proposal was simple: for $10, anyone could adopt a tree and receive a bracelet and an aromatic plant.
The students took turns with a member of the foundation to explain the project to families, sharing the ecological value of Tambo Cóndor and the importance of protecting Andean ecosystems.
There was one anecdote that filled us with admiration: a student, accompanied by her father, walked around the event with a sweet tone, achieving a remarkable collection.
The closing came with a pleasant surprise: we had exceeded expectations, securing a significant number of native trees for Tambo Cóndor.
Tambo Cóndor is an Andean ecosystem where each native tree plays a fundamental role in regulating the climate and protecting the soil.
The 1 Memorable Tree group is ready, demonstrating that commitment is sustained action over time.
Soon we will be in Tambo Cóndor, with our hands in the soil and the certainty that every tree planted is an act of hope. We will publish the detailed results after the day.
Deep gratitude to 1 Memorable Tree—mothers and students of the 2027 generation—for their unwavering commitment. To the families who generously adopted trees. To Colegio Menor for opening its doors. And to all our allies.
If you want to know how our planting day in Tambo Cóndor is going and what our goal will be, don't miss the next blog post.
Together, we continue to plant the future, tree by tree, toward harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
