At the Foundation, we have a clear conviction: we don't just plant trees, we “build forests.”
This is the philosophy we have shared with SONY throughout a solid partnership that has already left its mark on Antisana, Cotopaxi, and Quito's Metropolitan Park. However, the mission called us to new horizons.
This time, it was Guayaquil's turn. We returned for the second time to the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest, a vital lung for the province of Guayas, with the aim of continuing to restore its habitat and strengthen the connection between private enterprise and environmental conservation.
The heavy work began long before our arrival. We want to acknowledge the tireless work of the park rangers, who days earlier carried out the “hollado,” preparing the ground so that our eight SONY volunteers could spring into action.
With energy and commitment, the team managed to plant 150 specimens of native species, including ceibos and madero negro.
The day was marked by a silent tension in the air. The gray sky threatened rain throughout the morning, keeping the humidity high but without dropping a drop while we worked.
It was only at the end, just as the last plant was firmly planted in the ground, that the water fell.
It was not a storm, but a refreshing blessing that christened our efforts.
The highlight was not the planting itself, but the farewell. As the SONY team and park rangers were leaving, a coati calmly crossed the path beside us.
Its presence was the most powerful reminder of why we do this: it is living proof that biodiversity returns when we dedicate ourselves to protecting its home.
This miracle is possible thanks to allies such as Fundación Probosque, who promote ecological restoration, forest management, and environmental education in Cerro Blanco, seeking to recover dry tropical ecosystems and strengthen local biodiversity.
Our infinite gratitude goes out to the SONY volunteers for their dedication and to the brand for continuing to trust us to build forests.
Thank you to the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest and Fundación Probosque for opening their doors to us, to their park rangers for their hard work beforehand, and to the foundation's team who traveled from another city to ensure that this mission was a success.
