Guardians of the Andes: United by a Dream

This year, every step, every photograph, and every smile shared in Antisana has a greater purpose: to join forces with the Guardians of the Andes campaign.

This initiative seeks to build an Environmental Education and Conservation Center in Tambo Cóndor, a space to protect biodiversity and raise awareness among new generations. With each activity, we get closer to that collective dream.

Rainy Saturday, Hearts of Fire

Saturday, July 19 dawned promisingly. The clear skies seemed to conspire in favor of the Photography Workshop for Condor Day.

But nature had other plans. Upon arriving at Antisana National Park, the clouds opened up and the rain did not stop until the end of the day. However, something extraordinary happened: no one gave up.

Everyone got wet, everyone walked to Laguna de la Mica, and everyone learned. Santiago Uribe, Humberto Castillo, and David guided us with patience and enthusiasm, turning every raindrop into an opportunity to capture the wild essence of the páramo.

Sunday of Glory and Revelations

On Sunday, July 20, nature apologized. The sky cleared completely, revealing the majestic silhouette of Antisana in all its splendor.

Wladimir Ushi and Benjamín Guevara masterfully led the naturalist tour, pointing out species that had remained hidden the day before.

Participants were able to observe white-tailed deer, diverse birds, and, with luck, the silhouette of a condor soaring through the skies.

Each step was a revelation, each sighting a small victory against extinction.

Tambo Cóndor: The Heart that Unites Everything

Both days culminated at Tambo Cóndor, where lunches turned into celebrations.

Participants enjoyed not only the food, but also the species that inhabit this natural refuge.

Every conversation revolved around the experience, every smile reflected the satisfaction of having been part of something bigger.

All funds raised through these activities go directly to the Guardians of the Andes campaign. To date, we have raised around $8,000, and our first goal is to reach $15,000.

Thanks to each participant and each generous contribution, the dream of the Environmental Education Center is closer to becoming a reality.

To Santiago, Humberto, David, Wladimir, and Benjamín: your dedication planted seeds of conservation in every heart present. And to the organizers: your vision is transforming lives and saving species.
