A forest that grows with every hand

The Guanguiltagua Metropolitan Park was filled with life and enthusiasm. Nearly 100 volunteers from Metropolitan Touring gathered from 8:00 am to participate in a new reforestation day.

Familiar and new faces joined together with a common purpose: to sow hope in the form of native trees.

The goal: 150 native trees and shrubs that would find their home in this green lung of the city.

Capulí, alder, pumamaqui, podocarpus, wax laurel, yalomán, llinllín, cholán, among others, were the species selected to strengthen the local ecosystem, continuing a work that began a decade ago.

Ali, head of Human Resources at Metropolitan Touring, shared how the company has implemented sustainable practices, such as composting organic office waste, setting an example worth replicating.

A decade cultivating life

The work at Metropolitan Park is not new to the Foundation. What began as small sprouts in 2014 today has transformed into a vibrant forest that purifies the city's air.

This growth is testimony to the steadfastness and shared commitment between the Foundation and companies like Metropolitan Touring, which has proven to be a loyal ally over the years.

Seeds of awareness in new generations

It was inspiring to observe the active participation of volunteers of all ages. Children, youth and adults worked shoulder to shoulder, digging, planting and watering.

The younger generations were particularly enthusiastic, showing a growing awareness of the importance of protecting our common home.

The day was completed in record time thanks to the coordinated efforts of all participants. After the work was completed, the volunteers shared a well-deserved snack, amidst laughter and the satisfaction of having done their duty. cumplida, los voluntarios compartieron un merecido refrigerio, entre risas y la satisfacción del deber cumplido.

The Foundation extends its most sincere thanks to each Metropolitan Touring volunteer for their invaluable contribution.

Each tree planted represents one more step towards a sustainable future for Quito and its inhabitants.

Together we continue to write this green history, one tree at a time.
