The San Antonio Creek, in the Carmen Bajo neighborhood in Quito suffered the devastating consequences of the recent fires of September and October last year that affected its slopes, the support of the community to stop the fire was essential to prevent further damage.
With the sponsorship of Económica CIC and the collaboration of the students of the Giovanni Battista Montini Educational Unit, Paulo VI, this noble cause was launched, marking the first activity of the year in the area.
The goal was clear: to plant 200 trees, bushes and native plants, including species such as cholan, capulí, chilca, among others.
About 45 students from 8th grade joined this initiative, showing great commitment and energy from early in the morning.
At 08:30, the day began with words of welcome that motivated the young people to contribute with their “grain of sand” in the fight against climate change.

Throughout the day, the students carried out a variety of activities, from digging holes to moving trees and tools to the planting site.
Halfway through the day, they took a short break to recharge their batteries before continuing their work.
The day ended around 12:30 p.m.; although everyone was tired, the satisfaction of having contributed to the well-being of the planet was palpable.
This event not only highlights the effort to restore a damaged ecosystem, but also highlights how the younger generations are increasingly involved in protecting the environment.
We thank the teachers and students for their active participation and the school for fostering an environmental education that inspires these young people to be agents of change.
TOGETHER WE ARE PART OF THE SOLUTION
