On a morning that threatened rain but brimming with enthusiasm, Electrolux employees gathered at the Guanguiltagua Metropolitan Park to star in a day of reforestation that left a mark not only on the earth, but in the hearts of all participants.
With shovels in hand and smiles on their faces, about 10 Electrolux volunteers arrived ready to meet an ambitious goal: to plant 70 native trees to enrich one of the most important lungs of Quito.
Among the species selected were the siete cueros with its violet flowers, the hardy alder and the emblematic capulí, trees that will not only beautify the landscape but also contribute significantly to local biodiversity.
"We looked at the sky with some concern at the beginning, hoping that the clouds would give us respite to complete our work," commented one of the participants.
However, the weather seemed to ally itself with this noble cause, allowing the day to go smoothly.
This activity is not an isolated event. Electrolux develops similar initiatives throughout the region, with active reforestation programs in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, demonstrating a continental commitment to environmental sustainability.
The planting day at the Metropolitan Park was held in commemoration of Earth Day, celebrated every April 22.
This date, which in 2025 had the slogan "Our power, our planet", seeks to raise awareness of the need to protect our ecosystems and natural resources to ensure the well-being of present and future generations, as stated by the UN in its message for this celebration.
What surprised everyone was the efficiency and enthusiasm with which the activity was carried out. "We finished relatively quickly because everyone put in their best effort. The energy was contagious," recounted one of the participants.
The volunteers, visibly satisfied with their contribution, worked with dedication and joy, aware that each tree planted represents a step towards a more sustainable future.
At the end of the day, a well-deserved snack awaited the participants, who took the opportunity to share experiences and strengthen ties, celebrating together having been part of this transforming initiative.
From the foundation, we extend our deepest gratitude to each of the Electrolux volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to this cause.
As Jane Goodall would say: "Every tree you plant makes a difference".
And today, thanks to these committed hands, the Guanguiltagua Metropolitan Park breathes a little better.
TOGETHER WE ARE PART OF THE SOLUTION
