This is the second time that the collaborators of Andes Petroleum and the Foundation worked together to plant, and the word we choose is “perseverance”, since there is a lot of that in the work of recovering a forest that has disappeared.
For example, there are species that do not adapt, and we have to replace them, and that is what we did this time: new trees replaced those that did not resist this extremely dry summer.
Our goal is to cooperate with nature, so that, with our support, these trees will serve as shelter for insects, birds and small mammals that will disseminate seeds that will give way to new plants and, little by little, the forest will be restored.
The site chosen was the Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park, where 161 native trees and shrubs were planted, including species such as cedrillo, chilca, 7 cueros (or flor de mayo), guaba, pusupato, podocarpus, cedro, cholán, capulí and pumamaqui.
This habitat restoration work will contribute to the reestablishment of a native forest, providing a refuge for biodiversity and helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
The diversity of species chosen is part of the Foundation's strategy to restore the functions of a healthy ecosystem.
We gathered 150 volunteers, whole families, how nice to see the children planting together with their parents, it was not only an environmental contribution but also a family celebration.
It was a day full of positive energy, with volunteers and their families working side by side.
Each tree planted represents our hope that we can build a future of harmony between people and nature.
The Foundation would like to thank Andes Petroleum for their confidence in us and their commitment to conservation.
We thank the volunteers; without whose effort and commitment this day would not have been possible.
We also thank the EPMMOP and Metropolitan Park authorities for opening their doors to us and joining us in this work.
TOGETHER WE ARE PART OF THE SOLUTION!
