With the sponsorship of Seguros BUPA and the commitment of Amazanka, we had the resources to organize a day full of hope and environmental commitment, the foothills of Casitagua witnessed a beautiful act of ecological restoration.
The community of Pusuqui, alongside various organizations, came together for a reforestation event that left a mark not only on the land but also in the hearts of all participants.
Sunday started early. By 8:00 a.m., nearly 70 volunteers of all ages gathered at the base of Casitagua, ready to breathe life back into this vital ecosystem.
The Foundation, together with Amazanka, the local community, and the La Delicia Zonal Administration, joined forces for this noble cause.
The excitement was contagious. Children, teens, and adults listened attentively to motivational words that kicked off the day.
Everyone understood the importance of their mission: to plant 100 trees, shrubs, and native plants such as fig trees, llin-llin, walnut, and cholán, among others—species perfectly adapted to the local ecosystem.
Preparation had started days earlier when recruits from the Eloy Alfaro Military School dug the holes, making the planting process easier.
Volunteers, equipped with tools and supplies, spread out across the area while municipal staff provided fertilizer and hydrogel for each hole.
One of the most touching moments of the day was Patty’s testimony, a resident of the Pusuqui neighborhood. With tears in her eyes, she shared that she had lost her son in that very area. He had taught her the importance of caring for nature. Her participation in the planting was a tribute to his memory—a heartfelt act of love that moved everyone present.
This personal story reflects the deep connection the community has developed with this natural space.
The residents of Pusuqui and the John F. Kennedy neighborhood not only participate in reforestation events but also maintain a constant commitment to protecting the habitat, caring for each plant, and safeguarding the integrity of the ecosystem.
It’s inspiring to see how younger generations are increasingly involved in these initiatives, such as the students from William Caxton College.
The event wrapped up around 11:00 a.m. with a well-deserved snack, courtesy of Agroplásticos, Pizzelimedical, the Foundation, and the community itself.
But what was planted goes beyond trees: community bonds, environmental awareness, and a renewed commitment to nature were sown.
We deeply thank every volunteer who dedicated their time and energy to this cause, William Caxton College, the La Delicia Zonal Administration, the Quebradas Vivas Foundation, Plastiline, and all the companies that generously donated refreshments.
A special thanks to BUPA Insurance for providing the Foundation with the financial resources to make this event possible.
Together, we are building a greener, more sustainable future for Pusuqui and the planet.
Every tree planted is a step toward the recovery of our ecosystems.
Every hand that participated is part of the solution.
TOGETHER WE ARE PART OF THE SOLUTION
